I prayed for her and for the boy and all her kids. I grew up around a lot of that. A lot of love too, but we knew too many families like that. It is a great reminder of our need for Christ. I wanted so badly to talk to the boy, and tell him that he was not a loser and that Jesus loves him. I wanted to tell him about my story. I run into such situations often, and like you need the grace and wisdom to know exactly what to say. I always play it out in my mind. Like, I was once where you are or I heard those same awful words once…but here is what is true! I pray we all would grow in this area.

Selfishness sees others as a problem to be shut down rather than an opportunity to learn.
