I talked to Mike tonight. He is encouraged by your prayers and can see the Lord working in his heart through all of this. His biggest passion is too see his family repent. He sees the urgency now. His family thinks he is acting “holier than thou” and that he is wrong. I encouraged him again to love them with his actions and fervently pray for God to sustain them through this trial so that when the dust settles he can have good conversations with them one on one. His mom and sisters are acting nicer to him.
Emily did not have another surgery today. The next 2-3 days are critical as the doctors will take her out of the coma. Today was spent mostly monitoring her vitals. At first, her vitals were too high and too fast. They later slowed down to a normal pace but the doctors seemed concerned because she shouldn’t be normal yet while still in a coma. The drop in vitals was too steep.
The boyfriend’s name is Ryan. I am not sure how Ryan is doing, physically or emotionally. I will try to find out and let you know soon.
Thank you for praying for him. It is important that we lift this young man in prayer and encourage him not to lose sight of God’s love and control. It is easy to question Him during trials of this magnitude. But our God is good and I can see Him drawing near to Mike.
On a side note, as I write this, my itunes is on and David Crowder Band is playing. A certain song just started. It is simple, but powerful, He will “Never Let Go”. Praise God!
Thank you again.
Hi Matt,
Let Mike know that he is being prayed for. When something like this happens, it is very difficult not to want to tell family members about the urgency of coming to terms with our sinful nature and our desperate need of a savior. The Lord brings us through circumstances such as these, not only so that we can shine for Him, being a testimony to others of the hope that is within us, but also so that we depend on Him, totally, for our own spiritual growth.
Nothing takes God by surprise. In His perfect plan He has forseen these events and how Mike would be used to bring Him glory. Mike needs to wait on the Lord, be still and know that He is God. Silently putting his arms around his family, weeping with those who weep, simply sharing with them how he is lovingly praying for them that God will bring his sister through this.
What attracts people to Christ, especially in times such as these, is not what we preach to them about Him, but what He looks like through us. Our prayer for Mike is that the love of Christ will comfort him and his family, and that the Holy Spirit will draw his family to the source of the peace that surpasses all understanding.
We continue to pray for Mike and his family.
